The DG-CHP system with capability of tapping the heat and off gas of system for the cultivation of biofuel producing algae and growth of plants in greenhouse was tapped by the effort of the researchers in Branch for Northwest and West region, Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute. According to public relations of Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute, unveiling ceremony of the system which is the first type of its own in Middle-East was hold with the presence of Nitro minister, the head of institute and a group of local authorities and researchers.

This system which was tapped with donated facilities of Research and Technology cash of electricity and energy industry is the contemporary generator of electricity and head in 200 Kwcapacity which has high potential to cultivate algae using closed photo bioreactor system using 5 photo bioreactors with 300 Lit capacity.

To describe this project, Dr. NayyerAzamKhoshkholghSima, thehead of ABRII stated that the construction design of bio-environment friendly system for energy and bio-agricultural products generation was stated since 1394 with signing the research contract between Nitro Research Institute andBranch for Northwest and West region, Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute.

The use of novel biotechnology and other technologies for the purpose of tapping low value sources and greenhouse gases for production of different biochemical and plant cultivation in greenhouse is the important goal of this project.

He pointed that some of the important features of this project are its parallelism with Nitro ministry preferences in dispersed electricity and heat generation, parallelism with Agricultural Jihad preferences in rural development and the use of unconventional water and finally parallelism with international preferences in deduction of greenhouse development and CO2 absorption.

Technically the established pilot contains a contemporary electricity and heat generator, heat restore system for heating greenhouse and heat water supply, halotolerant algae cultivation photobioreactors in volume of 1500 Lit for absorption of pollutants and biomass production and finally algae biomass harvesting section.

Dr. khoshkholghSimaspecified that the produced biomass is utilized for production of cosmetic-hygienic products and there is the possibility of its in other agricultural and industrial sections.

She declared that in the case of developing and establishing the photobioreactors proportional to off gas from the system there is the possibility of daily 1.8 ton CO2 elimination, yearly algal biomass production of 30 milliard toman value and job creation via formation of knowledge based companies. She pointed that the performed procedure might have effective role in deduction of pollutant gases and elevation of general health and also decreasing the cost of pollutant gas elimination by production of valuable products compared to other similar processes.

It needs to be mentioned that in the path of successful performance of this project, the elevation of project scale from pilot to semi-industrial level,use of conventional water freshener wastes for cultivation of halotolerant plants in one of power plants as Persian gulf margin, use of DG- CHP system along with MED water fresher for algae cultivation and production of freshwater and use of perennial cool-season gases for protection of dam auriferous dams are being investigated.
